Match Preview
Juventus v Perugia
Juventus confidently expect to be crowned Serie A champions for the 27th time when they host Perugia at the Stadio Delle Alpi on Saturday.
Victory will suffice and if their only remaining challengers Inter Milan slip up it will not even be necessary.
But the celebrations will be somewhat subdued if Juve do cross the finishing line with two matches to spare because most of the team already have an eye on their titanic Champions League semi-final match with Real Madrid next Wednesday - a match that has sold out the Delle Alpi for the first time in its 13-year history.
Juve's French striker David Trezeguet was honest enough to admit his mind was not entirely fixed on the match with Perugia who are in the mid-table comfort zone in 10th place.
"We hope we win the Scudetto on Saturday but if we do we will put the celebrations on hold because we are already thinking of Wednesday's match," said the Frenchman.
"The Real game will be a thriller and winning it would be glorious. The goal at the Bernabeu was one of the most important of my career and if we get to the final it will be even more important."
Juve coach Marcello Lippi is not resting all his star men unlike his Real counterpart Vicente Del Bosque, but Alessio Tacchinardi and Antonio Conte will hold central midfield.
Alessandro Birindelli may come into defence in order to rest Lilian Thuram, while playmaker Pavel Nedved will also sit out the Perugia game with next Wednesday in mind.
Chilean Marcelo Salas could get a rare outing for the Bianconeri who lost the first leg in Madrid.
Juve have not lost to Perugia since the last day of the 1999-2000 season when their 1-0 defeat at the Umbria club's Stadio Renato Curi allowed Lazio to win the title.
Referee Pierluigi Collina allowed the game to be finished on a waterlogged pitch after halting play for 20 minutes in a downpour.
Perugia coach Serse Cosmi has a full squad to choose from and many eyes will be on striker Fabrizio Miccoli who will return to Juve this summer after a year on loan in Umbria.
During his successful stay in Perugia, Miccoli has become an Italian international and he will partner Greek forward Zisis Vryzas against Juve.
Roberto Barone is also to get a starting role for Perugia as Cosmi's men look to ensure Juve's party is put on hold for at least a week.
Perugia midfielder Fabio Grosso, also recently capped by Italy, said: "Juventus could seriously win the Champions League and I am sure when they play us they will already be thinking of the game with Real Madrid.
"We have in minds only the chance of getting a result against the next champions of Italy. The game is wide open. "
He admitted his own future was on his mind and said: "I like it at Perugia but playing for Juventus, for example, is the dream of every footballer."
