Roma v Torino

Roma hope to capitalise on last week's win at Reggina by beating a Torino team already condemned to Serie B football.

Although the Coppa Italia final with AC Milan is one avenue to the UEFA Cup, Roma boss Fabio Capello is still hunting the sixth-place finish that would secure it the league.

Capello, again deprived of the services of his injured skipper Francesco Totti, will persist with the strike pairing of Vincenzo Montella and Antonio Cassano.

However, he may have to also do without Cafu who strained a right knee in training.

Cafu, who this week said he wanted to back out of his summer move to Yokohama Marinos because of the SARS virus, will probably be replaced by Luigi Sartor.

Another Brazilian who wants to stay at Roma is Emerson.

"I want to stay at Roma but now I must speak with my agent and the president (Franco Sensi)," said Emerson.

"We have plenty of time because my contract expires in 2005.

"It would be nice to win the Italian Cup but I think it's also important that we win our last three league matches."

Goalkeeper Francesco Antonioli is another casualty although he may shadow Ivan Pelizzoli on the bench while Capello hopes Aldair will be fit.

French midfielder Olivier Dacourt and defender Christian Panucci are both suspended.

Torino boss Giacomo Ferri will persist with the usual strike pairing of Cristiano Lucarelli and Marco Ferrante but could give a starting debut to Brazilian Ronaldo Vanin.

Torino defender Luca Mezzano was honest about what has been a dreadful year for Toro.

"Our year has been an absolute disaster," he said. "Now they are talking about relegating only two clubs but even if that happens we will probably not save ourselves.

"That would be the ultimate slap in the face - an appropriate end to a dreadful season.

"But at Rome we will do our best - it won't be easy but we want to keep our heads up high."
